MBO CHECK LIST

MOVE ALL UNITS BEING USED INTO POSTION FIRST

SETTING THE FEEDER (pile feed)

* Set the feeder side guide to the width of the sheet

* Set the rear sheet detector to detect the height of the pile approximately 1/2”
from the bottom of the suction wheel with no air blast on.

* Set air blast to achieve sheet separation of 5 to 10 sheets

SETTING THE FEEDER (continuous feed)

*     Set the top sideguide rail for correct sheet placement    on the top feed board
    (take into consideration that you want your sheet to enter the marble register
      guide without hitting or stumbling into it as the sheet is being transferred onto
      the register table).

*     Load paper and allow it reach the rear of the feeder where the rear belts or
      tapes are located and position them accordingly to support the sheet while it is
      being transported from the top board to the bottom board. It is important to place
      any smoothers or trailing bands so as to support the corners of the sheet to
      prevent any stumbling points at this time.

*     Allow the sheet to advance to the suction wheel (be sure to have
      everything moved out of the way that could cause a stumbling point or jam on the
      lower feed board such as side air blast equipment and side guides)

* Position the lower wheels to the rear edge of the sheet (too far onto the sheet
and you may pull or drag doubles, too far off the edge and mis-feeds)

* At this point set you’re lower off side guide support and side air blast if you are
using it.

ADJUSTING THE REGISTER TABLE (side guide)

*    Adjust Your Register table side guide to the correct position for the sheet size
       you are running, allow for the sheet to have room for entering the side guide
       from the feeder and not stumble into it as it is entering the side guide.

* If you have a double sheet detector that has a gapset place the correct
thickness into it at this point.

* Some folders have an off side guide or a trailing band that the far edge of the sheet which
guides and prevents stumbling of the edge of the sheet, place this in the correct position.

* Make sure your marble arrangement is correct for weight of the sheets,

light sheets = lighter weight

heavy sheets = heavier weight.

PARRALLEL SECTION (main fold unit)

* Place correct thickness of paper under the gapsets

* Open the correct plates to be used for the job

* Position the score / perf / slitter accessories accordingly

* Fold one sheet and check the fold and skew adjustments

PAGE UNIT (second unit)

* Adjust the height of the cross carrier so that the top edge of the cross carrier is

approximately even with the centerline of the lower slittershaft.

*     Position the marble side guide so that the edge of the sheet is approximately
      ¾ to 1 inch away from the edge of the cross carrier rollers when the sheet is
      fully underneath and against the side guide.

* Place correct marbles in side guide

* Place correct thickness of paper under the gapsets

* Open the correct plates to be used for the job

* Position the score / perf / slitter accessories accordingly

* Fold one sheet and check the fold and skew adjustments

* Adjust the height of the cross carrier so that the top edge of the cross carrier is
approximately even with the centerline of the lower slitter shaft.

*     Position the marble side guide so that the edge of the sheet is approximately 3/4 to 1 inch
      away from the edge of the cross carrier rollers when the sheet is fully  underneath and
      against the side guide

* Place correct marbles in side guide

* Place correct thickness of paper under the gapsets

* Open the correct plates to be used for the job

* Position the score / perf / slitter accessories accordingly

* Fold one sheet and check the fold and skew adjustments

* Check the inner width adjustment on some folders to be sure that the thicker signatures
will go into the fold plate

* Set up the delivery to accommodate the correct size of sheet, set your counter
